Baandam Museum, or the Black House, displays a large collection of unique artwork by Thai national artist Thawan Duchanee. But it’s not the art work alone that draws people. It’s all the extensive grounds and mainly black buildings. The artwork might not be to everyone’s taste. Certainly the ones made from animal skin and bones, and also the phallic symbols may offend some people. But there is no doubt about the uniqueness of the place. It also nicely compliments the White and Blue temples that are also in Chiang Rai. Baan Dam is open from 9am-5pm and costs 80 Baht.
